Today I’m going to talk real quick about what happens when Pinterest removes one of your pins.
This is the email you would receive:
We recently removed a Pin from your board “###” because it goes against our Community Guidelines on false and misleading content.
Pinterest is a safe and positive space to find inspiration. For this reason, we don’t allow misinformation, disinformation or mal-information on our platform because it may have a significant impact on public well-being, safety and trust.
Prohibited content includes:
• False or misleading content about individuals or protected groups that promotes fear, hate and prejudice• False or misleading content that turns or encourages turning individuals, groups of people, places or organizations into targets of harassment or physical violence
• Conspiracy theories
• False or misleading content that impedes an election’s integrity or an individual’s or group’s civic participation, including registering to vote, voting, and being counted in a census
• Content that originates from disinformation campaigns and erodes Pinners’ trust in the information they find on Pinterest
• Factual information that is published or deliberately modified to erode trust or inflict harm, such as the changing or omitting of context, date or time
• Fabricated or meaningfully manipulated visual or audio content intended to erode trust or cause harm
Please take some time to go through your Pins and remove any others that may conflict with our policies, or we may take further action against your account.
What can I do about this?
Well, you can’t do anything. When Pinterest suspends your account, you have a way to appeal the suspension and perhaps get your account restored, as I’ve written about here – Your Pinterest account has been suspended and reactivated
But when Pinterest removes one of your pins, there is no way to appeal their decision. As you can see in the screenshot above, they don’t give a link where you can appeal the suspension, nor do they mention anything about a way of trying to get your pin restored.
Contact Pinterest?
The only way I can think of to try and get your pin restored, is to actually contact Pinterest. I don’t know how to do that, but it must be possible, and you should be able to find a way to do that by doing a google search.
Having said that, I think that it’s a waste of time. Even if you contact them, I highly doubt they would ever restore your pin. Frankly, they may not even be able to. There is a chance that when they remove a pin, they completely delete it from their servers, never to be restored.
My personal experience
Personally, I have a number of Pinterest accounts, and I often repin things that I don’t care about. So every once in a while when Pinterest removes any of my pins, I really don’t care to do anything about it. And in most cases they’re probably right to remove some of my pins, because some of them probably violate Pinterest rules.
But there was this one time when they removed one of my pins, and the photo of the pin was mine, and it was linked to an article on my website. It was a completely legit pin which didn’t violate any of their rules. And that’s when I realized that there’s simply no way to appeal their decision and get my pin restored.
I wasn’t happy about this, but I just let it go and moved on with my life…
Here is a video I made talking about this:
Conclusion
Pinterest is very well aware that their bots and algorithms sometimes make mistakes. That is clearly shown in the fact that they allow you to appeal their decision when they suspend your account. So not allowing an appeal when they remove one of your pins… that’s just unfair and lazy.

I will say something about the one above. I actually complained about this one, but I never received a reply from Pinterest. The reason I complained is because the photo I used in this pin was a screenshot I took from my own Paypal account (with all personally identifiable information hidden), and had posted on my blog here on Onmoneyline.com.
So it made no sense that somebody would report it, and it made even less sense that Pinterest would just take action like this without asking me about it first and letting me state my case. This was my photo, posted on my own blog, and shared on my own Pinterest account. Totally unfair behavior by Pinterest if you ask me.

We removed one of your Pins from Pinterest (sexually explicit or pornographic content):
Hi [NAME],
We recently removed one of your Pins because it went against our policies on sexually explicit or pornographic content.
The Pin was from your “###” board and it originally came from https://i.pinimg.com/previews/
iW8cq4Gl.jpeg. We also took it down from everyone else’s boards. We don’t allow images that are inappropriate for the general public, like sexually explicit Pins, anywhere on Pinterest. This includes Pins on secret boards because they can be made public with the click of a button.
We recommend taking some time to go through your Pins and remove any others that may conflict with our policies.
Thanks for your help,
The Pinterest Team

By the way, I wasn’t posting mature, adult, sexually explicit or pornographic content on Pinterest.. or anywhere haha. That was a throwaway account that would sometimes do automated repins (shares). It must have repinned some adult content which ultimately got removed.
Got two of those, still can’t tell what they were.
Hey b003,
Yeah, they don’t always tell you which pin was removed.
Maybe they tell you the pin if they remove one of the pins you published, but they don’t tell you the pin if they remove a pin you repinned from someone else.
I’m not entirely sure, but it may be this way.
Cheers :)
They always show me a blurry box pic. Then after two or three days they restore the pin. I wonder if it’s a machine generated response.
Everything is a machine generated response haha
Seriously, everything works on algorithms and artificial intelligence and machines. It’s all automated :)
Open the pic in another tab so you can see it properly and save it if it gets removed. Took me a while to find the information out to do that as I randomly get this message a lot. The pin is almost always reinstated too with out me doing anything.
Thanks for the comment :)
Thanks much!
