In this article I will show you how to contact Soundcloud support, specifically in order to appeal a suspended account.
Why write about it?
The reason I’m writing an article about it is because you may have some difficulty getting it done. At the very least this article will save you time by showing you exactly how to do it step-by-step. Otherwise you have to go figuring it out yourself, and that will take you more time.
How to know Soundcloud suspended me?
First things first, Soundcloud won’t notify you if they suspend your account. They’re probably the only social network which does not give you any notification that you’ve been suspended. You’ll receive no email, you’ll get no notification when trying to login, no warning, nothing. This is very bad behavior by Soundcloud in my opinion, but it is what it is…
The way you will know you’ve been suspended is if you try to login and you see a page like this:
So even though you inputted the correct email, instead of being asked to input your password in order to login, you are asked to create a new account. This is how you know your existing account has been suspended.
How to contact Soundcloud support & appeal suspension?
To do it, go to this page:
Then scroll a bit down and click where it says “File a ticket”.
This will appear:
Click where it says “MY ACCOUNT“, and then type anything in the text field and click send:
And then type anything again and click send. It doesn’t matter what you type, it can be any text.
Now you will see this:
Now you need to fill out all the fields.
Appealing suspension
If appealing a suspension specifically, use these choices:
What services are you trying to access? Soundcloud
How are you having trouble with your account? I’m having another account access issue
Do you have access to the email address registered to the account? Yes
Have you tried resetting your password at https://soundcloud.com/signin/forgot (and checked your spam filter)? Yes
The rest of the fields are pretty self-explanatory. Just fill them all out, and click “Submit“.
What now?
Now you wait. Usually you will get a reply on the same day, unless it’s the weekend.
To their credit, Soundcloud is pretty quick to check your account and reply to you. And usually they will restore a suspended account, which is nice.
Their reply could be something like the following:
So depending on what you did and whether they restore your account or not, you will get your answer.
Here is a video I made talking about this:
Conclusion
Soundcloud has pretty strict algorithms which often suspend accounts by accident. And they’re also very fair and usually will restore a suspended account after you contact them about it.
The only thing I don’t like is that they don’t give you any warnings, and they definitely won’t tell you that you’ve been suspended. Pretty much all other social networks will send you an email if they suspend you, or at the very least you’ll find out about it the next time you try to open your account.
So there you have it folks, enjoy :)
