Virtual versus Physical card
Order a virtual card if you
- Only plan to transact online, not in-store or at ATMs
- Want to start spending immediately (no delivery)
- Need multiple cards in the same currency
Order a physical card if you
- Plan to transact online and in-store, or withdraw from ATMs
- Don’t mind waiting for the card (requires a delivery address)
- Only need 1 card per currency balance
One more thing worth mentioning is that if you plan on withdrawing money from an ATM, get the physcial card in the currency of the country where you plan on withdrawing the money. For example, if you plan on withdrawing USD in the United States, then get a USD denominated card. And if you plan on withdrawing Euros in a European country, then get a Euro card.
The reason you want to do this is to save on withdrawal fees. In my case, using a Euro card to withdraw money in my country incurs a set fee of I believe €2,50 euros per withdrawal, and a percentage fee of I believe 4%. Additionally, the euro gets converted into the local currency by the bank, giving you a bad exchange rate. On the other hand, if I use the Euro card to withdraw money in any European country which has the Euro as its national currency, my only fee is €2,50 euros per withdrawal.
Here is a video I made talking about this:
Conclusion
The process of ordering a Payoneer Mastercard is easy and straightforward. I’ve used a physical card for many years, and I never had any problems, whether that’s withdrawing money from an ATM or using the card to pay for things. I never owned a virtual card, but I assume that works just as well.
