Recently I wrote a post about Google+ shutting down on the 2nd of April 2019. In this post I’ll talk about a stupid thing that happens on Google+… maybe one small of the many reasons their site is an unsuccessful failure that they have to shut down.
Notice of Google+ content removal
Hello,
Your Google+ content has violated the Google+ User Content and Conduct Policy, which is against the Google+ Terms of Service. As such, your content has been removed or blocked.
Content type: Post or comment
Reason for removal: Spam
Content identifier: z12udhyqikbxynivy23st12wvzbbvxmfo Certain removal reasons may result in your content being visible either only to you, or only in certain countries.
Sincerely,
The Google+ Team
If you use Google+ you may have received this type of email before.
Normally this happens if you post something and they remove it. That’s fine for content that hasn’t been shared on the platform before. But the problem becomes when something Google+ doesn’t like is alive on their platform, and you share it, and then they hit you with this email.
Excuse me?
So someone posted something, Google+ considers it spam, and yet they allow the post to be alive? And then if someone shares it, they send you an email telling you that the content is removed? What utter stupidity.
When Facebook doesn’t like a post, a link, they remove it and it can never be shared on their platform again. But they most certainly don’t email, warn or in any way penalize people that have shared that post.
This actually wouldn’t be a big deal, except…
Warning from Google+

Now, once you share a few posts that Google+ deems spam, usually if you share a few of them in rapid succession, then you get this email.
Hello?!?!
How the hell, am I supposed to know, that you consider a post spam, if you allow it to circulate on your site and be shared by people? Why did you not remove the post from your platform the moment it became spam in your eyes? I mean, this is just ridiculous.
Here is a video I made about the situation:
Conclusion
So in conclusion, I think that Google+ handles this situation all wrong. Facebook does it much better… not that Facebook is the perfect example of all things social media, but in this case they simply do it better. The reason they do it better is that there is absolutely no way for you to share a post Facebook considers spam, because they won’t allow it to exist on their platform to begin with.
And if you shared somebody else’s post on Facebook before they removed it, you won’t get any email or warning about it… because… why the hell would you, Google+?
So anyway, that’s how I feel about the situation. Comments, thoughts, questions, leave them below.
