In this article I’m going to show you how to send a private message to someone on Soundcloud.
Why to send a private message?
Obviously, the main reason you will want to send private messages to people is to promote your tracks and content on the platform. This is especially useful if you’re messaging your followers, as they’re already following you and have indicated that they’re interested in your music. Therefore, they’re more likely to read your message and check out your tracks and profile and like, repost, follow and comment.
Another reason could be simply spam. You can spam Soundcloud users with promotional content. Whether it’s your website, affiliate marketing, any sort of link basically you can send. But don’t be surprised if Soundcloud bans your account for doing this, or rather, if you overdo it. Soundcloud is pretty cool and lenient, and they won’t mind you sending a couple of messages here and there. But if you go hard, expect to get banned.
How to send a private message
Sending a private message to a user on Soundcloud is pretty easy. Just open any profile, and click the little mail icon on the right side of their profile (this is for desktop):
Once you do that, a popup will appear:
The “To – Recepient” field will be automatically filled with the username of the person you are contacting. Now just write your message in the “Write your message and add tracks or playlists” field, and press “Send“.
Benefits and Problems
One of the problems with this is that not every user can be contacted. Anyone can go in their settings and change their privacy settings to disable the ability to receive messages from anyone:
As you can see, if you turn this setting off, only people you follow will be able to send you messages. But this is not a big deal, as there are literally millions of profiles on Soundcloud that you can contact. Most people won’t change this settings, and so you’ll be able to message them.
The big benefit with this is that every person you contact will also receive a notification in their email inbox that you contacted them. The bad thing about this is that they won’t actually receive your message in their inbox. They’ll still have to open their Soundcloud account to be able to read your message. But it doesn’t matter, they’re still getting an email notification about it, which is good for you.
That’s the email a user will receive when someone sends them a private message.

Conclusion
In conclusion, contacting people on Soundcloud is very easy. All you need is a Soundcloud account yourself, and you can do it. Whether your reasons are promoting your music or spamming some offer or something, it can be done. However, I would advise against spamming, because in the end you’ll just get your Soundcloud account banned, and then you accomplished nothing.
