What is Pinterest
Pinterest is one of the oldest and most popular social media platforms on the web, and it’s completely free to use. It’s great for personal use and internet marketing purposes.
Whether you’re looking for recipes, home decor inspiration, workout routines, travel destinations or fashion styles, Pinterest has it all. You can “pin” your favorite content to boards, follow other users, chat with people and build your own collection of ideas, all in one place.
On the marketing side of things, Pinterest is heavily used by women from the US, and the majority are younger adults. This is a goldmine of purchasing power if you have anything to promote that targets those demographics. On the other hand, Pinterest itself is pretty lenient in what they allow you to post and how much they allow you to get away with in terms of following people, repinning content, promoting things and so on.
How to Register
Creating a Pinterest account is quick, easy and completely free. You can sign up using your Email address or Google account.
Simply go to Pinterest.com, click Sign up, insert your Email, Password and Birthdate, and click Continue:

Creating a free business account is exactly the same, but it seems you can’t use Google to create it.
After you do all that, you will have to confirm your email (so make sure you give a valid email during registration):

Please confirm your email

Please take a second to make sure we’ve got your email right. Didn’t sign up for Pinterest?

Once your account is ready, you can start personalizing your feed by choosing topics that interest you. Pinterest will automatically suggest pins and boards that match your preferences, helping you discover new ideas right away.
Logging into Pinterest
Logging in is just as simple. Visit Pinterest.com, click Log in, enter your Email and Password, and you’re in. If you used Google to sign up, just click the corresponding button for a one-click login. You can also download the Pinterest app on your phone or tablet and log in from there.
As you can see, it says Facebook login is no longer available. You used to be able to login into Pinterest using your Facebook account, but they’ve removed that option for some reason.
If you forget your password, Pinterest makes it easy to reset it through your email.
You can also login using the QR code. Here is how:
- Log in to the Pinterest app on your phone
- Scan the QR code with your phone’s camera
- Confirm login in the Pinterest app
If all went well, you are now logged in and can continue using your account 🙂
Security Notifications
Pinterest takes account safety seriously. Occasionally you might receive a security notification asking you to confirm your email or update your password, especially if Pinterest detects login attempts from a new location or suspicious activity.
These alerts are designed to protect your account and ensure that only you can access it. It’s always a good idea to keep your email up to date and use a strong, unique password to keep your account safe.
For example, if you try to reset your password or are inactive for a long time, Pinterest might offer a “magic link” login option instead of a password. In a way this is also a security re-verification:

Here’s a special button to help you log in with just one click.

At other times, they may simply ask you verify your email address again. This is rare, but it can happen:

Please verify your Pinterest email address

If you login from a new device or location, you may receive an email like this:

Someone knows your login details and used it to access your account. To protect your account, reset your password and turn on two-factor authentication. Also check for suspicious activity on any linked social media accounts (like Facebook, or Twitter).
Or it may look like this:

In these emails Pinterest simply notifies you of the device and location being used to login into your account, and they give you easy ways to reset your password if you want, like if you are not the person actually trying to login (compromised account).
